Our Commitment

Long Island Shade Co. LLC is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards to our website at longislandshade.com.

Conformance Status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. WCAG defines requirements that make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines helps make the web more accessible to users who are blind or have low vision, deaf or hard of hearing, have limited movement, have photosensitivity, or have cognitive or learning disabilities.

Technical Measures

We take the following steps to support accessibility:

• Semantic HTML — We use proper HTML elements to convey structure and meaning to assistive technologies.
• Alternative text — Images include descriptive alt attributes so screen reader users understand visual content.
• Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are accessible via keyboard without requiring a mouse.
• Color contrast — We maintain a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text and UI components.
• Scalable text — Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
• Focus indicators — Interactive elements display visible focus states for keyboard users.
• Skip navigation — A skip-to-main-content link is provided for screen reader and keyboard users.
• ARIA landmarks — Page regions are identified using ARIA landmark roles to aid navigation.
• Form labels — All form fields are associated with descriptive labels.
• No flashing content — We do not use content that flashes more than 3 times per second.

Known Limitations

While we strive to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, some areas of our site may not yet fully conform. We are aware of the following limitations and are actively working to address them:

• Some older photo gallery images may have generic alt text. We are updating these on an ongoing basis.
• Third-party embedded content (such as maps) may not fully conform to WCAG guidelines. We have no control over accessibility of third-party tools.
• Before-and-after slider components require mouse interaction for the drag function; keyboard alternatives are being developed.
